Update on my Husband in Iraq

Moms View Message Board: The Fox Hole (War-Related Discussion): The Yellow Ribbon ( Post names of family/friends in the war.): Update on my Husband in Iraq
By Semperspencer on Thursday, July 3, 2003 - 03:31 pm:

I received a call from my dh two days ago. He is in Taji, Iraq with 4th ID. We got to talk for a little over a half hour...and it was wonderful! There is still no good information regarding when he may come home, but every day brings him closer. He said they finally have a makeshift washing machine, one you fill with water yourself. There is a separate spin cycle machine, but it only spins one or two articles of clothing at a time. But he says its better than a bucket of water and a scrub brush!

He requested socks and boxers, powdered creamer, junk food, film, cds, a video of the kids and I (they have a vcr), pictures, and lots of letters. I will be sending all of this to him with his next care package. I was just so glad to hear his voice, he sounded very good and happy to talk to me. He should be able to call once a week now. I hope!

It looks like he won't be home for the birth of our third child. Crystal will be my birth coach and there are several ladies in the area that will be available to watch my other two boys when I deliver. My mom said she will be coming up to visit when the baby is born. So I should have all the help I need.

The guys are still in a dangerous country so I ask for your thoughts and prayers for Mike, John, and all the other soldiers in Iraq. Thanks!

Thoughts and prayers are still there for them, I hope they are home soon.

I'm sorry to hear he won't be home for the birth of your child. it always makes me cry to think the soldiers over there have new babies that they have never met. It's good to know that you have people there to help you through labor and with your children and the new baby

I'm glad to hear you got to talk to your DH. Hoping for their safe return.
