If you watched it, what did you think?

By Cybermommyx4 on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 - 08:18 pm:

I think Powell very clearly, calmly, and systematically detailed all the ways in which Iraq has violated/is violating UN dictates. I think this was partly to "get us ready" as a people, for war and to "list" all the reasons why they are going to make that decision. I think it's inevitable. While I DON'T *like* the idea of a war, if the UN can't enforce the rules, then what good are having rules and sanctions? It's like telling your teenager if they are late with curfew ONE MORE TIME, they will be grounded. And then they are late again. You CAN'T go back on your word, even if your word is a threat, or you have NO more credibility. I think that's the way president Bush is looking at it. They have pushed the limits, and are waiting to see if we will react. I have a great respect for our military, and my heart goes out to all families who have loved ones enlisted. All I can do, though, is pray and trust that those we've entrusted with this country's well-being know what they're doing. They have a great burden on their shoulders. If they act too soon, we will blame them. If Iraq were to attack us with bioweapons, etc., we will blame them (i.e. Why didn't you do something sooner?!)

Saddam Hussein has already made an alliance with Osama/ the terrorist cells. If he is allowed to live in power of Iraq he will supply them with the necessary bio-agents to wipe out the United States. Period.
France and Germany do not want to enter the war because they have agreements with Iraq for oil after the sanctions are lifted.
This war needs to be started now, stop the procrastination ...the weather will start to get unbearingly hot soon in Iraq. This is another factor to consider.

I didn't get to hear his speech, but from all info
I've heard from those that did, he stated the United States case well. I think if you pray you need to pray harder than ever before, and if you don't pray then I'll pray that you start today. God Bless all of you who are in the military or have family or friends that serve our country.
