Hi from an Oregon Newbie

Moms View Message Board: New to Moms View? Introduce Yourself!: Hi from an Oregon Newbie
By Mlee on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 - 12:35 am:

Hi,
I found MV a few days ago. Took me another few days to register. Few more to post...

It's been a long half week around here. My DH's mother, who has generally bad health, had to go into the hospital Friday. Today, within an hour of my leaving his house, my 86yo dad fell and broke his wrist. His wife, who will be turning 90 next week, drove him to ER, and didn't tell me about the whole thing until they were home. (!!) The doctor wants him to use only over-the-counter pain medicine because of his age. :(

Sound familiar to anybody? I've heard the 40's and 50's called the Sandwich Years because that's the age when we're likely to be helping both our children and our parents.

Anyway, I don't mean to be a downer. This is just a big part of my life right now. Thank goodness DD and DS are happily launched in the new school year--so far!:) They are both juniors--DD in college, DS in highschool.

Hi, Martha. Welcome to Momsview. Yes, you are part of the sandwich generation, as was I for many years. I can tell you that for all the worry and extra work some times, I wouldn't have changed much of it. I'm now at the point where my youngest son, who is single and just turned 40, moved back in with me so he could go back to school full time. That has its own moments but on the whole is a good relationship and works out well for each of us.

Just jump right in wherever you see something that interests you. And, welcome to Momsview.
