Moms View Message Board: New to Moms View? Introduce Yourself!: New member Ginab
By Ginny~moderator on Friday, June 29, 2007 - 10:58 pm:

Gina, I moved your post to a new thread so that you can be greeted by other members "for yourself" instead of in a thread for someone else. Hope you don't mind.

And - welcome to Momsview!!! Nice to see another cat lover.

Hello...my name is Gina and I am new! I am married with an 11 year old daughter. I am learning to sew & quilt. I find it very stress relieving even if my projects are not "perfect"...no blue ribbon winners yet! I love cats, reading, cooking and I am an Activity Director at a nursing home.

Hi Gina! My name is Dawn, also married and mom to 2 teenage daughters, Sarah, almost 18 (on August 4th) and Emily 15. I'm also a mom to a furkid named Jasmine, who is an Australian cattle dog.

I've done some sewing in the past, but not too much recently. I've been more into knitting lately! I made 2 sets of Easter dresses, when my kids were growing up and one old-time dress, for the Heritage School field trip, that's been worn by my 2 kids for the field trip, Halloween, Thanksgiving, both of my nieces, and my girlfriend's daughter. I have definitely gotten my money's worth out of the green dress!

Hi Dawn, I have never seen an Australian cattle dog....my husband loves dogs but he does not have one currently. I have a house cat and he says he just pretends she is a dog. HA! HA! I have been sewing items like pillows, quick quilts, handbags etc. and I plan on using them for Christmas gifts this year. It will be a change from giving gift cards or junk no one relly needs. Well it was nice to hear from you. Gina

My kids would love to have a cat, but my hubby is very allergic to them.

Welcome! I want to learn to sew, but I haven't tried yet. My mom could make all our Halloween costumes and I think it'd be cool to do that. I have been married for almost 9 years and attend college full time and I'm the mom to an 8yr old ds, 7yr dd and 3 yr old dd. This is a great group!

Welcome to the board, Gina. I used to sew all my own clothes - back in the day. Also used to love doing cross-stitch, but I gave away everything I ever did, so I have none of my creations. Now I don't do either because of my hands - though I wish I'd taught my DD's how to sew!!!!

Jump right in, get to know the group, I hope you like it here.

Hello Dawn, thanks for the photos. You have a nice family and a cute dog. The green dress is nice...reminds my of Little House on the Prairie.
Hello Rayelle & Bobbie, My mother passed away just this last August and she could sew anything! I would sit and watch her and she made it look so easy. I am getting better with each project. I find it very relaxing to go in my sewing room to sew, think and be alone for awhile. I buy alot of my material from ebay. I live in an area where choice is limited so ebay offers material from everywhere! It is very nice to meet all of you I think this is a nice site and it is great to have other moms to talk with. Have a happy Day!
